Travel Thursday: Historical Vegas

On a recent extended court reporting assignment, I had the chance to do some exploration of the historical side of Las Vegas, NV. Below are some photos from my time there.

Essential Skills for a Court Reporter

Accurate, punctual, adaptable, intelligent, professional. What do these adjectives have in common? They all describe the necessary qualities of a court reporter. With this thought in mind, we thought it would be interesting to explore which personal characteristics lead to the best court reporters and which fields of study can assist in developing these skills.

DC Events: Cherry Blossom Festival 2013

You may have missed it while dodging snow flurries and puddles of slush, but spring officially started on March 20. With spring’s arrival comes a hallowed D.C. institution, The National Cherry Blossom Festival.

Unfortunately, the cherry blossoms still haven't fully bloomed yet this year so we share with you a shot from last year!

Technology Tuesday: SpellThing

Being in a business where spelling a word correctly is crucial, we found this site to be quite the handy tool.

NRGCO on SpellThing

Simple in design and function, you can enter a word and SpellThing will give you what words to use to represent each letter in the word you entered. Very helpful!

Have other sites that you find helpful on a regular basis? Feel free to share them with us!

Happy April Fool's Day

It’s April 1st, which means you may want to think twice before opening doors, drinking unattended beverages, and putting on your shoes. April Fool’s Day 2013 is alive and well, at least if the Internet has anything to say about it.

Punxsutawney Phil Indicted!

Over the February 2nd weekend, a couple of members of the NRGCO team trekked up to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to observe the weather-forecasting groundhog known as Punxustawney Phil. It was a enjoyable experience (despite the near zero degree Fahrenheit temperatures) and we were all excited that Phil predicted an early spring. However, as many of you all over the country might have realized by now, Phil's prediction was not entirely accurate.

Let the Madness Begin!

It’s time for March Madness, and as a Washington D.C. based company we at Neal R Gross Court Reporters and Transcribers always like to support the local teams. This year we don’t have as many options for the DC Metro Area as we have in previous years, but we would like to wish the local Georgetown Hoyas much luck in the NCAA Tournament! Their first round match is set against Florida Gulf to be played today Friday, March 22, 2013 at 6:50pm EST and they are favored to come out on top.
